Alumni Library Privileges
Alumni have access to the Cooper Union Library on site, but may no longer borrow materials or use restricted databases remotely. Use your alumni card to gain access.
Our consortial agreements with other libraries (NYU, The New School, and Cardozo) do NOT include access for alumni. You can purchase a membership to Bobst Library. As of October, 2012, the annual membership cost starts at $250/$350 for in-house use of materials. Borrowing privileges can be purchased for $1,000 and up.
The librarians at Cooper Union will continue to help you with referrals to other libraries if needed.
If you do not yet have a card for New York Public Library, get one!
The Cooper Union Library is a member of the Research Library Association of South Manhattan, a consortium established in 1977, which includes libraries at NYU and The New School. This consortium shares a Catalog and provides faculty and students of member institutions with access to each other's collections.
Cooper Union faculty and students may borrow items at consortium libraries at NYU (including Polytechnic Institute) and The New School. Make sure that you have your library account activated and updated at our Circulation Desk prior to going to the other libraries.
New York Public Library (NYPL)
NYPL includes libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Queens Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library are separate, but affiliated, systems, and have separate catalogs.
